Therapeutic daily activities

  • Balance & gross motor development

    • Assist students with balancing skills to improve childhood developmental milestones: walking across low beams, walking over cones, jumping with 2 feet, bear walking skills, standing on 1 foot, etc.

  • Fine motor skills

    • Learning to grip a bar, ring or an object to improve hand strength & fine motor skills. Learning to hold a pencil, paint brush or art object. We also assist children with daily living skills such as putting on socks, shoes, and learning to zip a jacket. Some fine motor activities also include completing puzzles or lacing beads onto a string.

  • Sensory integration

    • Students with high sensory needs are met with 1:1 teaching support to incorporate sensory movements into their lesson. These activities help keep students regulated, calm and able to focus more easily. It also helps improve sleeping, eating and toileting routines. Activities include: sensory swings, jumping, rolling, climbing ladders & sliding.

  • Spatial awareness development

    • Children with Autism, ADHD & Sensory Processing Disorder are commonly challenged with not understanding where their body is in space, or in relation to another person or object. Our daily activities and sensory equipment help students learn, over time, how to integrate and navigate their body safely through their natural environments. Children learn how to identify anticipating level changes while walking (a step up or down coming up) or when a person or toy is coming close to them. They also greatly benefit from learning how to move their body in different directions while in motion.

  • Emotional regulation skills

    • Students unable to control their emotions while upset, greatly benefit from our activities. We teach students how to react to problems appropriately, how to stay calm, think positive and communicate solutions. The physical component of activities provides an outlet for individuals to appropriately express and process their emotions

  • Problem solving skills

    • Students with cognitive delays and disabilities frequently struggle with problem solving strategies. We provide therapeutic interventions and instruction to teach kids how to solve problems, think critically and feel successful.

  • Language & communication skills

    • Our staff provides a variety of adaptive communication techniques to meet each student’s individual needs. We use sign language, picture communication systems, and ipad/ tablet technology for augmentative communication. During lessons, students practice how to ask for help, how to ask for a turn, or more of a desired activity.

  • Social skills training

    • Students lacking social skill development greatly benefit from our programs to provide instruction on how to play a game, wait for a turn and how to be kind to others.

  • Tutoring / academics

    • Our tutoring program offers sensory integration time as well as academic learning time for students with Autism & ADHD.

  • Special education kindergarten preparedness

    • This program teaches early school routines to students including songs, stories, circle time, academic time, arts and crafts, gross motor development and sensory integration.
